VINTAGE PULSE FEATURED MEMBER Walker Street Vintage
Q: What is your favorite part about Vintage Pulse?
There's such a sense of community at here. Upon registering I was
immediately welcomed by other members. I was engaged and offered help
where I needed it. Not to mention all of the valuable resources in the
groups, forums, blogs and at Vintage Indie. I'm here everyday, gaining
perspective about something that I love.
Q: What is it that you love about vintage?
It's the process I go through that I fell in love with. The unexpected
nature of the hunt. Then finding something truly wonderful and the
curiosity or even sometimes the memories that ensue. I imagine it's
history, the people it was associated with, it's means of getting to
the place that I found it, and any number of ways it could have
influenced the lives of these people. And when I finally get it home,
it's the research. I want to know everything that I can! Not only for
the purposes of dating and value, but the story behind it (or the
story itself in the case of my vintage books!). Insight into a part of
the past that I may otherwise never would have learned about. Then
there's finally the aspect of sharing. Whether it's in my store or in
my home, I love to share what I've found with others. To help fuel
passions, spark new ones and be apart of it's latest history.
Q: What kinds of vintage do you purchase?
Mostly books and housewares. I collect tea and coffee cups like a mad
person, and books have been a lifelong passion. My interest in vintage
books started when I was 15, my mother brought home somewhere around
100 vintage and antique books from an estate sale. I spent hours
discovering ideas and stories, as well as the people that owned them
previously, through names, dates, notes and various things tucked away
in their pages. I love the warmth these things bring to my home, and
Walker Street Vintage is in part to help control some of the
overspill. I am however expanding for the store and in my personal
tastes. I am frequently finding new loves and plan to make them apart
of Walker Street Vintage. Expect to see some fantastic vintage Norwegian finds very soon!
