I just went and checked it out. I think that's great! Seems like etsy admin appreciates vintage! I don't know how much I will use those categories for listing because I only sell jewelry but I can see the value in it for other vintage sellers.
I just listed an item and used the new categories! I am so happy! There are new choices all the way through the tagging. This will help the vinatge group!
Yes! Those magically appeared as I was listing last night! And, voila! I sold the tiki I listed! And a springy blouse the day before! Woohoo! No linger a vintage virgin!
Great question Rayann! I have yet to list with the new catagories as I have been working my bread and butter job since Thursday. What does everyone think would be best?
I click vintage first but after I click commercial still click vintage year but usually go back and remove the commercial tag and use that as an extra like the color or some thing else some one may look for.I think more people will brouse for something more like a color or year than something commercial .My opinion any way seems to work so far
I did notice them when I was listing a day or two ago. Nice that they added some specifics for us like that!
I think it will really help people to more easily find clothing by era. Before it was all sort of a mish mash of stuff from every era and hard to search through if you did not have the time to dedicate to your search. If everyone starts using these dating categories I think it can only help sales in the long run.
I finally saw this--I'm pretty impressed :-)
There's a tag for "book" which thrills me no end (I'm easy to please he heh), and buckles., but alas, no "button" one. I'll ask about that.
One thing that still puzzles me: When you click 'vintage' you get the 'commercial/handmade" drop-down. If it's vintage you didn't make it (unless you're-ahem-vintage yourself). You would think that, yes? But if you click on 'handmade' in the vintage drop-down, it gives you the regular, modern handmade tags. It's pretty much useless for vintage anything. I guess I'll write about both of those things, can't hurt.
Right, Bethany :-)
Also, it may curb the willy-nilly listing of new/new-ish clothing ad vintage if people actually have to think about it first. Yes, I can be hopelessly optimistic, and curmudgeony at the same time :-)
