ARG! Nine West is NOT a Vintage Brand!

I just did a search on Etsy for "Nine West" shoes and they're ALL OVER! Nine West wasn't a brand until December 31 1991 meaning even it's first shoes are NOT vintage (ie 20+ years.) I flagged a few but we'll see if anything happens or not. Continue

Upholstered Photo Background

I got so sick of ironing and setting up the fabric I use for my photo backgrounds, I made myself this upholstered thingy. It only took a couple of afternoons to get all the shopping done and the thing put together, and I was able to have it ready to go. I also got a new camera and after I figure that thing out, I'll be ready to role with all the new stuff I got in MN. I've made a little technical sketch if you want to try it yourself.

An eventful few weeks....

First of all I'm sorry that I've been so remiss in posting to either of blogs. My husband was gone for almost a month caring for his aging mom. If you've been in my shop you know that I tend to lean towards mens accessories and clothing. People always ask me why I sell what I do. I never really thought too much about it before. Sales have been steady... has me thinking...

I have been having very steady sales since I started my shop. Not a ton, just about 3 a week give or take, but pretty regularly which is totally awesome. So that has me wondering how far I can make AfterlifeForArgyle go. My husband has been encouraging me to list more than I have been. I love this time of year! Today marks the beginning of the May Brimfield Show. Lately I've been busy like mad finding uses for my expansive paper stash. What is Hardest About Your Book Keeping??

I use a program called "FileMaker Pro" to track my spending sales. The program let's you create what in technical lingo is called a "Relational Data Base" which in plain-talk means that it allows you to work with your items similar to a card catalog at the library - you can search, do calculations, and even have fields that have drop downs so your data entry is WAY faster and more accurate than say Excel. Off to Palm Desert

Sooooo, we are leaving for another estate run near Palm Springs. More vintage, more of the time. Among the finds are more costume jewelry, supplies, linens and textiles, books, music, clothing and various and sundry goodies for the curious to peruse and hopefully find something that they like. I wanted to have a place where I can jot down any useful things that I run across on the internet that could help folks with their Etsy shop, website, etc. The first thing I wanted to share is Google Alerts. Lesson Learned - Pyrex Can Break!

Sooo because I was so excited to sell this super cute set of pyrex dishes I didn't pack them properly...needless to say one of the two broke en-route. The buyer was really great and convo-ed me before she left negative feedback and I comped her back for the full purchase. I don't really care that only one broke, the whole point of buying a set is to get the SET and I got good feed back from her. Still the saddest thing is that the dish broke...And here I thought they were indestructible. Continue

I decided to revamp my store....

I admit, I have craft ADD! ;) I try a little of everything and my etsy store has shown that...but I think most people will want to come to a store for one main reason, right? Another week has passed....musings over Vinetta

I added some new piccys for your viewing pleasure, showcasing some new finds not all of them yet listed in the shop. I realized that I can't live metals around me. Silver, copper, brass, gold, stainless steel, aluminum. Ornate, modern. Luv 'em, luv 'em, luv 'em. This week I restored 2 large copper molds, they came out fantastic looking.
